Lucienne has an avid interest in the body and how it functions - as a tool for artistic expression in dance, as a tool for healing through bodywork and as a tool to sharpen the mind as a yoga practitioner.

She has been a student of Iyengar yoga for more than 20 years beginning in Amsterdam while studying at the School for New Dance (BFA). Once in NYC she graduated from the teacher training at the Iyengar Institute under the guidance of Mary Dunn and James Murphy. She holds an INTERMEDIATE SENIOR I level certificate and is a faculty member of the NYC Institute.

In November 1999 she founded Studio Spine, now located in the heart of the West Village. The development of the studio has been central to the progression of Lucienne's personal practice and teaching. Each year she visits France  to study with Faeq Biria and travels to Pune (since 2006) to remain close to the source of Iyengar Yoga.

Lucienne’s teaching is positive, encouraging, precise and demanding. She believes that a consistent practice of Iyengar yoga leads to many encounters with one’s ‘hidden potentialities’.

Lucienne is also a Board certified Structural Integration practitioner (since 2004). Studying fascial alignment as a structural principle brought her a deeper understanding about imbalances in movement patterns due to any form of stress.
